The style sphere just got a bit drabber with the loss of a bright, cheery icon. Lilly Pulitzer Rousseau passed away at the age of 81. The Palm Beach Playful Prints Princess was well-known for her happy, punchy, color palette and tropical designs.
The accidental fashion designer made strides in the ’60s with her iconic shift dresses in vivid colors and loud patterns. Pulitzer’s popularity spiked when then-first lady Jacqueline Kennedy -a fellow classmate- wore one of the designer’s pieces in a Life magazine photo shoot.
She will forever be remembered for her signature flamingo pink and apple green color combo and classic shift dress. We bid adieu to a bold hue heavyweight whose main design purpose was to make people happy through color.
