We would like to thank the Academy for the three-and-a-half hour-long broadcast that allowed us to really take a look at the fashion worn by the actors and actresses. Last night, the 87th Annual Academy Awards ceremony may have been the longest award show in history but it was also one of the most flawless, in terms of fashion that is.
Many trends were observed on the Red Carpet. We saw men step out of their usual black and white tux and step into a perfectly tailored colored suit. There was an abundance of red dresses worn by the Oscar nominees, along with dresses that were intricately beaded. Silhouettes seemed to be simple, and very structured, this year.
With all the hustle and bustle going on at the award ceremony, it’s hard to really see who wore what, and that’s why we have decided to sift through the countless dresses and pick out who we think nailed it at the 2015 Academy Awards.
Here are the nominees for Best Dressed:
Always a fashion icon on the Red Carpet, Lupita Nyong’o stunned us all in a custom designed Calvin Klein gown made up of 6,000 pearls. Talk about a statement piece.
Sienna Miller has been killing it on the Red Carpet this award season, so her arrival was much anticipated last night. She definitely didn’t disappoint in Oscar.
David Oyelowo proved that men do pay attention to fashion by wearing the color of the evening: red.
Hollywood’s latest it-girl was on trend with a red dress, and looked stunning. The sleek silhouette was brilliant with the detailed shoulder.
Margot Robbie definitely took a risk last night wearing this draped, Saint Laurent gown, but it flowed beautifully on the Carpet, and we all could not stop staring at the stunning Van Cleef & Arpels necklace she wore!
Excessive beading was definitely a trend on many of the dresses as seen with Jennifer Anniston looking amazing in Givenchy and Emma Stone wearing a gorgeous Elie Saab dress.
It’s hard for Jennifer Lopez to ever not look amazing. Whether it’s a post workout photo or a glam Red Carpet photo-op, she looks stunning.
Rosamund Pike made jaws drop in this Givenchy dress and proved that it was not just another red dress.
Reese is famous for her simple, curve-hugging dresses at the award shows, but this Tom Ford was the definition of modern and classic.
Gwyneth Paltrow was pretty in pink, throwing us back to her appearance at the Oscars in 1999 when she wore a pale pink gown. This rose detail on the shoulder is everything!
More men should take style cues from Jared Leto. He wore this periwinkle Givenchy suit and made the women swoon.
