Go ahead, splurge and give into your shopping indulgence. Better yet, it’s guilt-free. And to top it all off, it’s ethical to boot.

Yes, you read right. Guilt-free shopping. And yes, it exists. Most importantly, who is responsible for the optimal buying justification?

Rebel Nell breathes new life into shopping with a conscious.  The Detroit-based low-profit company “creates defiant jewelry with a purpose.” In early 2013, Amy Peterson and Diana Russell -the Motor City masterminds behind Rebel Nell- birthed the socially conscious business from their shared love of the city. They design extraordinary pieces of jewelry from local city elements – such as graffiti- whilst empowering underprivileged women. They “help transition disadvantaged women from a life of dependence to one of self-reliance, overcoming barriers to employment through the fruits of their own labor.”

The Dequindre Cut Collection

Rebel Nell’s inaugural collection showcases striking pieces of refashioned graffiti derived from the Dequindre Cut. The Dequindre Cut Collection is comprised of an ample variety of intensely vibrant colored edgy pieces  – pendant necklaces, rings, earrings, bracelets and cufflinks. Don’t worry, their social consciousness also encompasses how they harvest material. “They wait to collect the graffiti only after it has fallen off the walls due to the weight of layers of paint or damage caused by Mother Nature.”

These richly hued one-of-a-kind works of art will add a delectable dose of panache and edge to your daily attire. Statement jewelry does wonders for a monotonous outfit. For the corporate chic, the Dequindre Cut collection is perfect for transitioning your work wardrobe to happy hour attire. For example, pair a pendant necklace with a classic white button down shirt to give a look that’s daring yet meeting-appropriate. For the weekend warriors, slip on a statement ring and/or a statement pendant with: a white t-shirt and jeans for a bold style or a little black dress (LBD) for a fashion-forward look. The styling possibilities are endless with this eye-catching collection.

Where to purchase? Rebel Nell will be selling the Dequindre Cut Collection at Detroit’s annual Dally in the Alley on Saturday, September 7, in the Cass Corridor. Come enjoy one of the last summer days in Detroit at Dally and shop Rebel Nell’s inaugural collection of unique pieces from the Motor City. Remember, it’s guilt-free. / Facebook: Rebel Nell Detroit / Twitter: @RebelNell / Instagram: @RebelNellDetroit
